A course by Joshua Ross

Start a product business with $0–$500

You do not need thousands of dollars, a warehouse, or a huge audience. You need a product people stop and ask about — and a plan for the first $500.

Why this course exists

I did not write this from a whiteboard.

I built Christian Ross Co. around a full-grain leather bag — The Remnant Lexington. I walked it into Better Men's in Lynchburg. A clerk stopped, looked at the leather, and asked where it was from.

That is the whole game: a product good enough that strangers ask. You do not need $10,000 for that. You need a tight budget, a real sample, and the guts to walk in.

This course is the sequence I wish I had on paper — find the product, validate it, source it, brand it, sell it, reinvest.

What you will learn

Five steps from a small budget to a real product business.

  1. 01

Find a product people will buy

Identify problems customers already pay to solve. Research demand and competitors. Kill ideas with poor margins before they cost you money.

  2. 02

    Start with $0–$500

Use a small budget on purpose. Validate before you buy inventory. Approach manufacturers, read samples and MOQs, and know what packaging actually costs.

  3. 03

Build the product and the brand

Name, identity, offer, a simple online presence, photography, and the kind of trust that makes a stranger pick your product up.

  4. 04

    Get your first customers

Sell direct. Walk into local shops. Pursue wholesale. Use social media as a storefront, not a billboard. Get the first testimonials from real people.

  5. 05

    Turn sales into growth

$500 → product → sales → reinvestment → $1,000+. Pricing, margins, cash flow, inventory, and the discipline to grow a business instead of a one-off sale.

Tools so you can actually execute

The course is the process. The worksheets are how you run it on your product — not someone else's case study.

  • Product research worksheets
  • Validation exercises
  • Startup budget planner
  • Supplier and manufacturer questions
  • Pricing and profit calculations
  • Customer outreach scripts
  • Launch checklists

The product this process built

The Remnant Lexington

Full-grain leather. Brass hardware. Built to be carried to work and on the road. This is what a small-budget product can look like when you choose well and sell it in person first.

This is for you if

  • You want a physical product, not another digital template.
  • You have between $0 and $500 and refuse to light it on fire.
  • You are willing to walk into a shop and talk to a buyer.
  • You want a process you can repeat, not a one-time hustle.

This is not for you if

  • You want overnight riches or “passive income” with no work.
  • You will not talk to customers until the website is perfect.
  • You only want dropshipping scripts and ad hacks.
  • You need someone else to pick the product for you forever.
